About Heirloom Japan

Welcome to Heirloom Japan.

I live in Japan, surrounded by the craftsmanship that this country is known for — kitchen tools, ceramics, and traditional goods built to last for generations, not just seasons.

This site exists for one reason: to help you choose things worth keeping. In a world of disposable products, Japanese artisans still make tools meant to be passed down — a knife re-sharpened for decades, a teapot that outlives its owner.

I research each product using Japanese-language sources — manufacturer sites, artisan interviews, and reviews from Japanese users — so you get information that’s hard to find in English elsewhere. Where I can, I test products firsthand.

Whether you’re building a collection, choosing a meaningful gift, or simply want fewer, better things in your kitchen, I hope this site helps you find them.
